Support for Learning
The Support for Learning Department consists of a Principal Teacher, five full time teachers, a part-time EAL specialist and nine Additional Support Needs Assistants. All members of the Support Team, including Peripatetic Specialists and Psychological Services work closely with school staff to support students with individual learning needs, Coordinated Support Plans, sensory impairments and physical disabilities.
A variety of approaches are used to support students with Additional Support Needs. This includes co-operative teaching, direct tuition, use of ICT, liaison with other agencies and consultation with staff to determine the most effective approaches or materials to use with individual students. The progress of students with Additional Support Needs is monitored regularly, with Reviews and Future Needs Assessments being held with parents and appropriate agencies.
