Some of our staff received a certificate for taking part
in Heart Start training.

P6 children took part in the annual cycling proficiency scheme and most
passed with flying colours.
Chloe, Rachel and Kayleigh P6 and Daniel P4 have been very successful
in their chosen sport of Tai Kwon Do. They have now received their orange
belts.
Joe P2 and Ben P2 increased their distances in swimming.
Poppy P2 has joined our ever growing group of successful dancers.
Chloe P1 and Rachel P3 have been improving their front
crawl and in the swimming pool.
Codi P3, Jessica P1 and Mia P1 have been developing their dance skills
this session and achieving certificates and medals.
A group of P5 pupils took part in a badminton workshop at
Kelvin Hall. They were taught basic badminton skills and had the opportunity to meet some of the rising stars of sport.

Taylor P4 managed to complete the Climbzone in December 2009.
Freya P2 created some lovely puppets from plastic cases
and paper.
Cerys P6 recently passed her Grade 1 piano exam.
Chloe and Kirsty P3 are very proud of their new sewing
skills. They made fabulous owl door stops.
Zoe P4 has moved onto a new level in her swimming lessons.
Mac P1 has been learning new skills in Tae Kwon Do.
Charlie P2 has been collecting swimming bugs and can now swim 100m.

with BBC Dance Mat Game. |
The ladies from the lunch hall visited classrooms to
encourage all of us to minimise the waste we produce during our lunch
breaks.
Rachel P5, Lucy P5 and Jonothan P6 were winners in the community's
Powerdown poster competition which helped to raise awareness of energy
efficiency.
The school took part in the 'Silly Sausage Challenge'. We
managed to reduce the amount of food waste in school by 20%.
Our Eco Committee recently asked members of the school community to buy
rice from Malawi during Fair Trade Fortnight. They also asked us to think
about swapping our usual brands for Fair Trade varieties.
Our Equality Team organised a Winter Paralympic Event with pupils from
Isobel Mair School. 
Poppy and Erica P2 completed their Rainbow Promise.
Cameron and Rachel P3 were highly commended for their road
safety calendar competition entry.
Amy and Lauren P7 raised funds for 2009 Children in Need event by
selling Pudsey cakes and biscuits to all their school chums.
Daisy P3 received two new badges because she belongs to
'Rainbows'.
Many of our P7 pupils passed their cycling proficiency test.
Emily P6 raised money by completing a fun run for Lifeboats.
P3 pupils organised a 'Kilts for Kids Day on 30th November. They raised
£140 for children 1st.

Danny P4 won trophies for fast and slow dance.
Declan P3 earned a certificate and book for his 'purposeful' activity.
Chloe P1 earned a certificate and a book for 'endless smiles'.
Our P2 pupils delighted everyone with their spectacular assembly on
Scotland.

Lyndsay and Mia P1 have performed confidently in dancing
competitions.
Our P6 pupils performed an assembly to raise awareness of the 'Cool in
School' project they had been focusing on this session.

Rebecca and Aisling P6 had to show great confidence to talk and sing on
the radio.
Taylor P4 and Aimee P6 wrote a letter to the queen to ask if they could
come to tea.
Imogen and Murray P7 won a 'Broons Burns' Night Book' for
their excellent Burns poetry recitations.
Mr Derrett our instrumental tutor awarded many of our
flute and clarinet players with a 'Talented Tootler' certificate. 
Danny, Michael P4 and Brian and George P3 have been
awarded certificates and medals for their Hip Hop dancing.
The Cheerleading group led by Marie Bennett entertained
all the school in December 2009 with their newest routine.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in our Christmas Concert
2009. What a wealth of talent we have in the school.
Gary P7 managed to cope with the 'Sky Park' at Xscape.
Codi P3 managed to collect 3 new dancing medals for tap, modern and
ballet.
Jennifer has been continuing her successful run with her pony Jake.
They recently won another two rosettes.
Caitlin and Chloe P6 returned from a dance competition laden down with
huge trophies.
Jack P6 and Andrew P7 are confident they could match the successes of
golfing stars like Seve Ballesteros and Colin Montgomery after receiving
some beautiful crystal trophies and shields from Caldwell Golf Club.
Ailsa P4 has maintained her fabulous run of success in dancing.

A group of P6 girls played their first ever football
match against another school -and won!!!
Ben P1 earned a certificate when he took part in soccer training.
Ben P2 was nominated player of the match in his football game.
Many of our pupils entered an Easter egg design competition. For more

Calum P6 won a medal for football.
Scott P2 was a fabulous team player at his soccer club.
Many of our pupils successfully took part in the Neilston Cattle Show.

Many entered their pets into the cattle show too. There were prizes for
horse jumping, the dog with the waggiest tail and much more.
As always many of our pupils attended Boys Brigade and Girls Brigade
and received awards and trophies for their efforts.
P7b entered a competition run by Poppy Scotland to create
original poetry related to Remembrance Day.
Parent, pupils and staff assisted the school in raising £1137 during
the Scholastic Book Fair.
Our Pupil Council and Equality Team planned a Sport Relief fundraising
week. They organised Winter Paralympic events and our pupils competed in
their 'Houses'. Everyone had a super time and raised £720.
Craig P7 and his younger brother Ewan P3 came second in a
'Grow The Biggest Sunflower' Competition.
Zoe P4 participated in the Santa Fun Run to raise money for Accord
hospice.
The school are now members of the Royal Mail Scottish Book
Trust judging panel.
Quest seekers Heather P4, Emma P2, Blair P2, Rebecca P6, Ben
P4 and Kerr P2 read a total of 43 books when they took part in the local
library reading event.
Kenneth P4, Kyle P4, Jack P4, Jason P4, Joseph P4,and Dylan P7 were
awarded a highly commended certificate for their Eco challenge work.
Scott , Calum and Scott S P4 won medals at a Boys' Brigade
competition.
Pupils from each class were selected for their efforts during our
recent 'Rock Your Socks Off' charity event which raised over £1000.
