WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS: So if you are interested please contact Miss Bennett (Active school co-ordinator) on: 07800629690 Active Schools Physical activity and early involvement in a variety of sports is crucial for your child’s development and well being. This year at Neilston Primary we have a range of activities designed to encourage participation of all pupils and we hope that children will take this opportunity to try something new, have great fun, make new friends and improve their fitness. Some clubs run throughout the year (school teams) however there are new activities added to run alongside the activities delivered during P.E lessons and different activities to engage more children to participate.
All clubs are £1 per week (discounts for free school meal places), this pays for the coaching and is less than half the price of the clubs in the community, Clubs are held in school hall, outside or over at the church hall. There is a full timetable of clubs that are running this term, on the attached timetable it clearly states the activity, primary class the club is offered to, the cost and the dates the club starts and finishes. Please keep this for your own reference.
To apply for a club please fill out the form overleaf and return it with the fees to the SCHOOL OFFICE in an envelope marked with child’s name, club and fee enclosed as soon as possible. Spaces are given on a first come first serve basis. You will receive a confirmation that your child has a space in the club.
Each child who attends for a whole block (or 90%) will receive a certificate and a ‘goodie’. Coaches will also be on the look out for children who improve in a variety of ways; confidence, cooperation, physical skills, fitness and team work.
Last year all the after school clubs were full and children all seemed to enjoy the range offered. To ensure that the programme meets the children’s needs, I regularly attend the pupil council meetings and try to accommodate requests where possible. Children requested an Athletics, Girls Football and Netball club this term, so please encourage your child to attend the clubs and try something new. There will be a Netball Tournament for P7s in February.
Children should wear comfortable clothes for being active and training shoes. All children must bring their water bottles. If the club is held outside for the majority of the time (weather permitted) children should be appropriately dressed. Please ensure that you collect your child from the gym doors at the end of the session. If your child cannot attend the session one week please inform the school prior to 3pm.
