Every
year in Our Lady of the Missions Primary
School we hold our Fairtrade Fortnight
activities including assemblies,
competitions and stalls. This
year the classes collected Fairtrade logos
and as a whole the school collected 2296
logos. Primary 7a collected 351, winning a
Fairtrade football. A Primary 5
football team came second in the East
Renfrewshire Fairtrade Football
competition held on Saturday 10th March at
Newton Mearns Baptist Church. Emily
Dunn from Primary 7b was runner-up in the
local authority 5th anniversary
competition to design a Fairtrade poster.
On
Friday 9th March, 3 East Renfrewshire
councillors, Alan Lafferty, Mary
Montague and Ian McAlpine came to visit
the Fairtrade stalls
and see Fairtrading in action. Over £2000 worth
of Fairtrade goods were sold

Four
pupils entered the 2012 Regional Primary
Schools Competition organised by the
Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Association of
Burns Clubs.
This was held on Tuesday 13th March and
all competitors were successful. Matthew
D, P7a, came third in the
Instrumental Primary 6 & 7 group;
Clodagh O'D. P5c, came third in the
Instrumental Primary 4 & 5 group; Euan
S, P6c, came second for the Recitation
Primary 6 & 7 group. Aidan L,
P5a, won the Instrumental Primary 4 &
5 group as well as the overall
Instrumental Shield. He was then
picked to receive the overall
winner's cup. Well done to everyone!

The KAOS club (Kids
Activities Out of School) is a weekly parent
run club which runs every Tuesday 7.00 pm to
8.00 pm at Carlibar Communication Centre.

Glow Book Month - Glovember
Several pupils took part in the above
event and one of our pupils, Evyn K
from Primary 1 received a special
certificate for being in the top fifteen.
His acrostic will be published in an eBook
available in the Glovember Glow Group.

Primary 1 Autumn Walks
The primary one pupils went to Eastwood
Park to experience the magnificent seasonal
changes through their Autumn walks. They
enjoyed rambling through the woods,
collecting leaves and chestnuts and fir
cones for their class nature table. |
Cross Country Races - Giffnock North
Athletics Club
Sunday 27th November in Rouken Glen
Park. This is open to children from primary 5-7. Mr McCann will be providing training
sessions for any interested girls and boys
who wish to represent our school. Further

Castle Toward
Yet another very successful outward
bound experience for P7 pupils. The children
participated in a number of activities;
gorge walking, archery, hill walking and
high ropes to name but a few! They name
friendships and achieved goals that they
never thought possible.

Tennis Tournament
Congratulations to Ellen H, Rebecca
M, David D and Matthew T who took
part in the Primary School Country Tennis
finals. They played extremely well and came
second overall in the tournament. |
Uniform
All parents should have received a
pamphlet regarding East Renfrewshire's newly
adopted policy on school uniform. We have an
excellent record here at Our Lady of the
Missions regarding our school ethos and
strong identity in the local community. This
is strengthened by the fact that all pupils
are proud to be associated with he school
and wear full school uniform. |
PSA Hallowe'en Party
The Hallowe'en Party organised by the
PSA committee was a tremendous success. Both
parents and pupils thoroughly enjoyed the
evening and are already looking forward to
next year's
party.

MacMillan Cancer Support - World's
Biggest Coffee Morning.
Once again the staff of OLM held their
Coffee Morning on the in-service day Friday
14th October. Lots of home baking was
consumed during interval and lunchtime.
The fantastic total of £610 was raised. |

Mary's Meals - Backpacks

Park thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had a wonderful
