Clubs and Activities

Learning Centre:

The Learning Centre is located on the second floor of St. Luke’s High School, directly above the library. It can accommodate up to thirty five pupils during unstructured times of the day, providing security, stimulation and sanctuary from the busy social areas located on the ground floor of the main building. This area is staffed by members of our Pupil Support Team and gives pupils the opportunity to utilise ICT, chat, speak to members of staff and foster relationships with new friends in a safe and friendly environment. The Learning Centre is also used in a variety of ways throughout the school day.

Social Justice & Community Activities:

This range of activities are organised by Joe Herd. There are a wide variety of activities available to pupils of all ages and these have proven to be very popular in recent years. Some activities available are listed below.

Wednesday Club (S2):   Wednesday        2.40pm – 3.30pm
Wild Cats (Girls Group):                Thursday             3.30pm – 5.00pm

ACES:

The ACES programme was designed in response to increasing levels of childhood obesity.  The programme is for children and young people aged 5-15 years and their parents or carers.  It is a 12 week programme to support young people to lose weight or avoid gaining weight. The course combines elements of food, nutrition and physical activity in a fun and interactive way.  There is an optional further 12 week maintenance programme and ongoing support through Active Schools and more general sport and leisure programmes.

Psychological Services

Psychological Services assist, advise and provide additional support to a number of pupils within St. Luke’s High School. They offer a wide range of appropriate activities which may take the form of social groups meeting on a weekly basis, focusing and addressing particular difficulties that pupils are experiencing. ‘Friends for life’ and ‘Seasons for Growth’ have been implemented successfully in St. Luke’s High School for a number of years and have had a positive impact on pupils.
