The school newspaper is paper no more. Ms Quinn of the English Department and a team of students from across the school are relaunching the latest news as a blog at http://buzzifeed.blogspot.com . The blog will be regularly updated with the latest happenings and information, along with all the regular features such as music, film, creative writing and general interest stories. How we, pupils and staff, aspire to put into practice the vision we have for our young people and staff. Each week in our school our pupils with the support of members of staff seek to live out the vision we have for our school community, developing their talents and offering service to others in our school.
Each week we are invited to put into practice the invite of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to put the Gospel into action and be witnesses of faith, hope and goodness in our school community,
Examples abound of the witness of our pupils, staff and parents.
- At Assemblies this week a presentation from Frances and Patrick Lonergan of S2 of their recent trip to India to help with the work of Mary’s Meals.
- The recent presentation by Ruth Leiser and Emma O’Donnell of their visit to Auschwitz and lessons to be learned of the need for respect for all people.
- Our Sixth Year pupils who took part in the Sixth Year Rotary Public Speaking Competition and those in S6 who organised a P7 ceilidh for 300 pupils.
- Madeleine Macaulay, S6, who is currently in India helping a medical charity support orphaned children
- Our Ceilidh Band, their commitment to their music and outstanding performance at Celtic Connections
- Our Sixth Year Drama students who gave an outstanding performance over 4 evenings of the Crucible.
- Our pupils who took part in the Evening of Burns and provided outstanding entertainment for pupils, parents and staff. – music, drama, speeches, lights, food, etc.
- The staff who organised and accompanied pupils on the S1 Science Trip offered to all pupils in S1
- S1/S2 Disco on Tuesday evening to support the students of S6 travelling to Malawi to help build a school.
- Life Mass at 7 p.m. on Wednesday 10th February to celebrate the work of our pupils who seek to pray that we have respect the dignity of life, help pregnant women in need and allow unborn child to be given the gift of life. A gift that all of us have been given. All pupils are most welcome to attend the Mass.
- Pupils who took part in the Education Sunday Services and represented our school with distinction
- Those members of staff who offer sports clubs, after school clubs, evening supported study, trips, lunchtime support, help with lunch-time supervision, every week.
- Those pupils in S4-S6 who are working very hard for their prelim exams and the members of staff who are providing over and above support to help with studies.
- The pupils and staff who attend Holy Mass each morning, Wednesday –Friday and our local priests who offer Mass on behalf of our school community.
Remember Lent begins on Wednesday 17th February (Ash Wednesday) and Mass will be celebrated every morning at 8.25 a.m.

This years residential Summer School will be held from 13th - 18th June 2010. It is aimed at the current Fifth Year students who are studying maths & science subjects at Higher level .
The Space School seeks to inspire the next generation to study science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) courses at university and pursue careers in the STEM field on graduation. In 2009 the quality of applicant was high and competition for places was fierce.

The initial School Radio Podcast is now ready for your listening pleasure! The first edition sees a wide range of features including:
- An interview with Mr McBrearty, one of the St Ninians 'Originals' , having been at the school since its opening
- Spotlight on the S2 Film Club
- Showcasing St Ninians talent through interviews with local bands
- Sharing the spiritual life of the school through the worship group
and more. Many thanks to all of the s6 students who have worked to put this together, with particular thanks to Michael Gandy and Raymond Callaghan for developing the idea, and Michael for his hard work in editing together the podcast. St Ninian’s High School beat over 3,000 schools from across the UK belonging to FILMCLUB – a free scheme, backed by educationalists and celebrities, to inspire children through the world of film. FIRST LIGHT AWARDS 2010, celebrating the creative talents of young people across the UK, was attended by a mix of film industry luminaries and celebrities who presented awards across a range of categories including Best Animation, Best Drama, Best Screenplay, Best Comedy and most outstanding film club. Among those present were Sir Ian McKellan, Jason Isaacs and TV presenters Dick and Dom.

The photographer is coming into the school this Thursday 11.3.10 at 9.00am to set up for the annual S6 year group photograph. All Sixth year students must be in full uniform. Those who have a class during period 1 must attend as normal and will be permitted to leave class at 9.20 am for the photograph which will be taken before morning interval.
