The Library

St.Ninian’s has an attractive and well-maintained Resource Centre. The Resource Centre is divided into two main areas. There is a comprehensive lending library which houses the core book collection containing junior and senior fiction, non fiction and reference materials and there is also an IT section which houses PCs and printing facilities.

Weekly visits to the library are included in English lessons, as well as in other subjects.

All pupils in S1 undertake a course in Information Studies based on the facilities available in the Resource Centre. Reading is given a high priority for all pupils throughout the school and all pupils in S1 and S2 are involved in motivational reading schemes.

15 computers with word-processing and Internet facilities are available for use by individual pupils, classes and staff. A networked printer allows printing from any machine.

The Resource Centre is open to all pupils outwith the timetable, before school, morning break lunchtimes and after school. The School Librarian is available to help pupils find and use information and to encourage pupils to read widely.

The environment aims to be friendly and conducive to effective accessing and use of information, study and reading.

St.Ninian's is participating in The Times free books for schools campaign. Tokens can be handed in to the school library.

Thank-you
