INFANT INDUCTION
Our aim is to make our
Primary 1 children’s move from Nursery to school a happy and enjoyable
experience. In order to achieve this we try to get to know your child and also
help you to prepare your child for school. If your child has attended one of the
local nurseries, a member of our staff will have visited the nursery, spoken to
the staff and spent some time with your child. Children who attend Thornliebank
Nursery Class have a close association with the school and there is a close
liaison between the nursery staff and Primary 1 teachers. The education your child
has received, and the progress he/she has made is very important to us.
Pre-school education and what your child has learned from you, are the
foundations on which primary education is built. On Wednesday mornings, for 5 weeks in May and June, we run our Induction Programme with the
help of our nursery staff. On these mornings you will be invited to
the school with your child. These meetings will give you the opportunity to see
round the school, meet your child’s teacher and take part in workshops that
offer useful advice. For your child, the
Induction Programme offers many advantages such as getting to know their primary
one teacher, their new classmates and becoming familiar with their new
surroundings, At Thornliebank Primary
School we want your child to begin Primary 1 feeling secure and happy. Our work
with our nursery staff and our Induction Programme helps us to achieve this. Early in your child’s
Primary 1 year you will be invited into school for workshops and also be given
opportunities to see your child at work in their class. |
