S2 TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE

When Mrs Stewart – head of S1 and S2 – suggested that Woodfarm may want to make a contribution to the Tsunami appeal class 2V were more than happy to agree.

The pupils decided that they would join in with the “fill a schoolbag” initiative.

The pupils discussed the fact that we take so much for granted especially when it comes to education. They also realised that for the children in the affected areas, education may not even be a choice, for a while at least. We discussed that although they moan they have a secure environment in which to learn, they have all their friends around them and they have their homes to go to after school.

They came to the conclusion that they would try to make life a little easier for those children going to school with nothing.

And so in came the pennies.

2V then encouraged the rest of S2 to help out. Mrs Stewart, Mrs Richardson and Mrs McNicol provided the empty bags and Mrs Stewart went on a shopping spree to fill the bags. Some bags were filled by individual pupils in particular Euan and Ben in S1 who took up the challenge and coordinated their contribution with the S4 council who provided ideas and encouragement.

Pictured below is a selection of pupils who rose to the challenge.

A big “ thank you” yet again to the pupils and their families.
