New Year: New You

On the first of January, many people make "New Year Resolutions". They resolve to start something, stop something or change in some way. Your English teachers may have made a few of their own:

1. Mark less to achieve more.

2. Read more books!
3. Try not to re-invent wheels. (Metaphorically).

definitely!

4. Ensure every Woodfarm pupil can spell "definitely".

This month you have a choice of writing challenges and here they are:

1. If Scotland was to make up four of its own New Year Resolutions, what should they be and why?

Make an illustrated list on A4 paper.

2. Make up four New Year Resolutions of your own. Have a parent or carer write down the four things they THINK you should write.

Write both lists on a piece of A4.

If you like, add a sentence saying what you think about their suggestions.

 3. Write a poem called: "New Year: New You" and illustrate it.

Present attractively.

4. Write a story 300-500 words long about a character who changes because of their success OR failure to keep a New Year Resolution. (Typed or hand-written).

Hand your completed writing challenge to your teacher Wednesday 20 January 2010!
